Each of the six pitches is large enough to accommodate a family sized tent with a small gazebo and up to four adults or two adults and up to four chldren. We have a larger cut area for families or small groups that would like to pitch two tents next to each other. Please mention this when you book online or when you speak to us if this would suit you better. We charge on a per person basis for our pitches and (so long as they fit!) we are happy for you to bring any size of tent, and any number of extras such as kids tents and gazebos.
At night the facilities in the communal area are lit using solar power. It can get very dark on site though so you might find it useful to have a torch with you for the path back to your tent.
As the pitches are set in amongst the meadow grass we have to be aware of the risk of fire, so we ask that you use our small fire pits with grills rather than bringing your own. These are free to borrow and we have wood and kindling available on site. We appreciate that you do need cups of tea and a hot meal though so camping gas stoves are fine! We also have a tripod with grill and a hanging hook for your kettle over the communal campfire if you fancy some wilder cooking. We just ask that you share it with other campers if they would like to use it too. We provide trugs of seasoned wood and kindling (£5.00), eco firelighters, matches, a flint and steel to borrow and bags of locally produced charcoal (£5.00/ half bag or £9 for a 5kg bag) in our bike shed.
Empty 5m bell tent
If you are travelling light and can’t carry your own tent, if you are wondering what it is like to sleep under canvas, or if putting up your own tent just sounds like too much hard work, then there is always one of our pre-pitched empty bells to consider.
At 5m in diameter they are incredibly spacious and a family of up to six would be very comfortable. Each comes with a ground sheet but you will need to bring sleeping bags or inflatable mattresses and bedding with you. We do have double and single futon mattresses to hire if you wish for some added extra comfort (£10.00 per stay for double, £5 per stay for single). You could combine this with bedding and linen hire too (£5 per person per stay – please bring towels with you).
The tents can be pitched on any of the six circular pitches on site with plenty of space around them to cook dinner or lay back and stare up at the clouds. Possibly the most exciting thing about a pre-pitched tent is that come rain or shine it will be ready for you when you arrive and you don’t need to pack it up when you leave!
How much is it?
