willow whips

It is yet again a typically dreary spring day but we still have smiles on our faces because yes… at last…finally… we have ceremonially (and literally) cut the first turf on Ling’s Meadow!

We have been busy beavering away behind the scenes, cutting red tape and building a virtual on-line world for our campsite, for many months but now it is time to cock a snook at the weather and start to see something physical take shape.

We have had the pleasure of working with local willow weaver Graham North today. He is planting a living willow fedge for us that will border the meadow and provide a beautiful natural feature all year round.

Together with my husband Neel and our sons Rowan and Laurie he planted willow in snow, hail and freezing winds all morning with spectacular results.

Tomorrow the weaving starts and I can’t wait to see it take shape. It will be a long term labour of love as the finished fedge takes three seasons to complete.

We will keep you posted as it takes shape!
