Windhover has an atmosphere of real peace and tranquility and takes her name from the kestrel that we see regularly over the meadow. She has been lovingly made by local carpenter and eco builder, Alan Powley. Inside you will find a unique carved bed and beautiful stained glass window lights in the mollycroft roof, made by glass artist Clair Rice.
Windhover has a raised double bed with another double bed space underneath. She has a storage cabinet and worktop that includes plenty of shelving. There is a drop down table made from an inlaid wooden headboard, seating and her own wood burning stove with oven and flat hob surface for boiling your kettle. A stable style door provides both privacy and a view out across the meadow.
The van is light and airy with lots of windows. The yellow roof lights give it a lovely warm glow when the sun shines through. At night Windhover is lit using solar power. We also provide a lantern and fairy lights. The solar panel next to the hut also provides power for two USB points.
Ranny shepherd’s hut has a pull out small double bed, a fold down table and a small wood burning stove. It provides extra living space, or an additional double bed if you want to spread out a bit.
Outside the huts there is a sheltered seating area and a fire pit to star gaze around and enjoy some traditional outdoor campfire cooking.
As far as we can we have tried to be true to the shepherd’s hut’s and living van’s past and the ethos of Ling’s Meadow. We want to capture that feeling of simple living outdoors.
The shepherds hut and living van come fully furnished with all the kit that you might need for your stay. Linen for the beds is included, but please bring towels.
