Here at Ling’s Meadow we tend to go all gooey eyed every time we see handcrafted, locally made, beautiful things. So, I was a bit of a mess when I discovered this gorgeous living van made by local carpenter and eco builder Alan Powley. Needless to say it is now the new glamping addition on the meadow for 2016!

It has a stunning carved wooden bed surround and, thanks to local glass artist Clair Rice, you are blown away by the sunlight coming through the stained glass window lights in the mollycroft roof.

We love our little Ranny shepherd’s hut but we knew that we also needed something bigger for families. This living van has plenty of space for a family of four, and if children are happy to share together we can add in one more if they are all small. It can also accommodate four adults as the beds are set out as two doubles, one above the other in a bunk bed style.

The top bunk has a standard double mattress, whilst the bottom bunk contains a specially designed double mattress that can fold back into two seats. This leaves plenty of space for children to turn this area into their own private den.

Like us, Alan reuses things where he can, and so the drop down table is a beautiful inlaid wooden headboard, found at a local auction. The van also has an antique wooden storage cabinet that provides space for your cooking gear and doubles up as a work surface.

The pictures shown here were taken before we gave the van a new home and we will add more to the website as we complete the final touches. We will be installing a new stove for heating and kettle boiling and will be converting the electric lighting to solar. Like the bell tents it will be fully furnished with everything that you need for your stay. Outside, the van will have a sheltered seating area and its own fire pit with tripod and grill so that you can enjoy some outdoor campfire cooking.

So if you like the idea of lazy days on the meadow we are now taking bookings for this year and it would be lovely to see you!
